Social media is now hot and hotter is talking about “social Media Optimization Tactics”. People are focusing the conversation on the importance of adding videos to websites and this kind of new strategies, but do they make the difference?
Even at the SES in New York this was the conversation and it is worth to spend a few words about this new trend.
The idea of using videos in web sites, is to create more interactive pages and better ranking in SERPS (Search Engine Result Pages) and also, you should do so to create engagement opportunities with your audience. Besides for the fact that the search engine gives to video importance, you will be driving traffic to your website and likely even you may get more links to your site too. In the attention disorder of the typical Internet user, creating a buzz can be very important.
You don’t just upload videos, but you have to make sure the video are nice and are gonna be rated by the users, you also want to have good comments, you will pay attention to the title of the videos, to the social media user ID you choose, and don’t forget about keywords you will use, and how you make the links to the videos, the anchor text is still very important.
The social ratings and reviews, are very important and people like honest reviews, and good reviews are fundamental to have in your profile. The bad reviews have terrible impact but unfortunately it is normal to receive some negative reviews, this is something you have to be able to dele with because it happens.
Among the Social media Sites Flickr is considered a good way to reach audiences and Yahoo gives good weigh to Flickr images.
They are not just pictures, people are very passionate about them, they discuss a lot about them. You have to be willing to join the conversation and then offer tips in your field and introduce yourself as the expert that you surely are in your business.
Why I do love Flickr:
- You can email Photos from your cell phone
- you can join, make your community and creating topics
- you can publish from Flickr to your blog
- you have very good privacy options for different people using it for fun and for business
- you have RSS feeds and this is one of the main points
- people can subscribe to comments about your pictures
Twitter is an other practical application, if you want to promote your business. In Twitter you are able to follow new people and get to know friend’s friends and dive into so many different conversations, without it being seen as spam and eavesdropping. This particular aspect can expands the network of the people you may be able to reach as prospect for your business, whatever that can be.
Twitter is also nice when you “Retweet”, and the meaning of it is that you can make a post, than you audiece will go and post it to their Twitter followers. It’s much faster compared to a blog and the beauty is that it can go beyond the limits of blogs to reach a lot of people.
More exciting things about Twitter are:
- You expand your network
- this is not stalking, you are observing
- the traffic you may get is huge
- feed backs are natural and somehow you will use them as surveys
- Services are free!
- the limit are just on your creativity.
You should jump right in this two sites because Social Media Optimization Tactics have become crucial to your business.
