A lot of people are looking for blog optimization tips and are wondering which ones can be the right seo services to help them. There are a huge number of business blogs done not realizing that their potential visibility on the Internet could be much more if their site was better optimized for search engines.
After getting a site up and running, they realize that traffic doesn’t come by itself. That was the problem I had for my business once and that was how I got involved with SEO. Blogs can even get some decent traffic without seo, but WITH it the traffic can be a lot more.
Blogs, have more optimization opportunities compared to a regular web site. Most blog software are more engine friendly out of the box but even more if you get help from a blog marketing consulting service, for example I have a long list of blog optimization tactics that can make the difference. Let’s see just the basic ones that you can implement on your own.
what do you have to do to your blog?
Besides the search engines we have to work as well as for blog/RSS search engines to increase traffic from sources like social search like Yahoo MyWeb, Google Personalized Search, social bookmarking sites like del.icio.us, Digg, Furl and Blogmarks.
A blog is a content management system, and most standard SEO strategies still apply, but there are also tactics that are specifically designed for blogs. I gave a good explanation about title tags on this blog. I even said somewhere and I repeat that the best tool for keyword is Google free keyword suggestion tool, but I don’t want to go too deep into Keywords now though.
Let’s See The Important Aspects To Take Care Of:
- As a basic setting it is very important that you don’t set your blog’s title to repeat throughout every post and there is a specific setting for that in wordpress.
- A very good way to improve you blog permalink structure is using a plugin called Top Level Categories
I strongly recommend you to use this plugin that when is set properly it rewrites the urls of your blog for more search engine friendly ones. - Make it easy for readers to subscribe RSS feeds, use “chicklets” or subscription buttons in the side bar and in a dedicated Subscription Info page.
- Optimize Categories. When creating categories, make sure to use keywords as the main titles. When you make posts, be sure to use a category that is relevant to the post. Don’t choose multiple categories on any post or you get into the double content penalty with search engines.
- Social bookmarking sites are an excellent sources of free traffic to your blog, that is why you have to make it easy for people to bookmark your blog posts. Add some code to your template for the major social bookmarking sites. There are plenty of them around and it is not too difficult to install them.
- The most important of all of them is: Submit your blog to Blog directories and RSS directories, submit the blog also to directories such as ( JoeAnt, DMOZ, GoGuides, MSN Business Central, etc) to the specific categories for blogs.
- For every post, you have to ping the major RSS feed and Blog search engines. The best way to do that is through specific plugins as Movable Type or WordPress to have that done automatically. If you use Blogger.com, you can do this using Pingomatic or Pingoat.
- Trackbacks and Comments: Be sure your blog software is configured to send a trackback ping to blogs that you cite within your posts. Pay attention to press releases distributed by PRWeb. If you cite a release, and ping the trackback link, the press release will turn in link to your blog. This is better for driving traffic than for link popularity.
- Make comments on other related blogs. what you will use as a name will be the anchor text that will link back to your site, and make valuable comments. Use keywords in the field for the name if that is possible.
- Offer RSS to Email. 30% of blog traffic comes from people that perfer to read posts via e-mail. Use free services for this like: FeedBlitz, Zookoda, Squeet, RMail and Bloglet.
Do all the above and your blog will start to get a lot of more traffic, if you want someone to tweak your blog for you I can do that for a small fee and your business will benefit a lot from it.
Businesspeople have to realize that there is the opportunity to be something more than a cash funnel to the customers. Some basic steps to improve a blog can do wonders for building a better customer relation.
